A Reflection: Visiting the Iberostar Family of Hotels and Resorts in Mexico

This month our new Program Coordinator Ellen Tomie was treated to a hosted visit to nine (and a half!) Iberostar hotels and resorts between The Mayan Riviera, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel Island. Her reflection serves as a great reminder that no two properties, even if under the same ownership, are the same; and it is the differentiators of any property that allow us here at Fraser & Hoyt to craft the perfect travel program for any group!

“The wide selection of properties I viewed offered amenities for any kind of traveler. Whether you are seeking business or leisure; fitness or total relaxation; or something in between there is a property that can offer your group everything it needs.

Connection With Mind, Body, and Nature

There is such a push in the travel industry to shift away from our screens and reconnect with ourselves, our peers, and with nature. Health and happiness come from a balance of many things, and Iberostar understands the importance of this.

Nature surrounds every property: flora, foliage, and animals fill most all the resorts, with many of the connecting “hallways” being fully exposed to the outside world. A true oasis for any traveler awaits you in Mexico. Beyond being simply immersed in nature, there are also a variety of mind-body classes such as tai chi and yoga offered both in-studio and outdoors across all properties to promote both mental and physical wellness for all participants and support re-connection with self and Mother Earth. This focus strongly reflects the internal incentive trends in corporate wellness we are seeing across Canada and internationally.

Eco-Tourism

With a strong environmental push in all business sectors, environmentally conscious travel is no exception. We are seeing the elimination of single-use plastics in many industries, including our own.

Iberostar Resorts and Hotels impressed me with their Wave of Change program which is being implemented internationally across all Iberostar properties. Wave of Change will see a complete elimination of single-use plastic bottles across all hotels and resorts in 2020, with multiple resorts and hotels already operating under this program. As a guest, you can expect to receive a refillable bottle on arrival with water filtration refill stations on all floors of the hotels as well as various other locations on property.

In addition to this, the chain of resorts has already shifted to having eco-friendly, natural bath and body products stocked in the rooms of all properties to preserve local water supplies, and you will find no plastic straws on any of their sites.”
